What Participants Say About The Masterclass
"The Sicily Photo Masterclass was such an amazing and warm feeling. I was the recipient for the SPM bursary and I can’t say how grateful I am for the experience. I learnt a lot about curating my work and how to sequence and create a story which I currently always refer back to now. For me it was challenging but everyone was so helpful, kind and encouraging in helping me. The food the beyond this world and accommodation was stunning. Both Mimi and Paola was beyond accommodating, entertaining and friendly. I genuinely can’t think of a better place than SPM for any and everyone.”
- Gifty Dzenyo, SPM Fund Bursary recipient 2023
“The Sicily Photo Masterclass was an amazing experience throughout. I made friends for life within the group I attended with and the lessons I brought from the SPM2021 will be immensely useful for the rest of my career.
I enrolled in a time when I felt my photography skills were deflating, I was feeling very unmotivated and I needed a boost of inspiration. Mimi Mollica showed me that I can (and I must) get out of my comfort zone in order to accomplish beautiful work.
As a creative, I find this advice very valuable and transversal to other fields of work. Also, the location is absolutely gorgeous and the food, cooked by the amazing Paola Mollica, is to die for. I mean, you will never eat such delicious Italian food ever again.
Forget restaurants. Paola's food is absolute perfection. My advice to anyone considering enrolling this year is, just do it. It is worth every penny.”
- Joana, resident artist Masterclass 2021
“I want to say a big thank you for your wonderful Masterclass. I have now attended twice and I’m sure I’ll be back again! You and your guest tutors share your knowledge and experience so enthusiastically that I have come away with added inspiration and greater confidence. My personal projects now have more focus and are progressing well thanks to your support. Plus, and it’s a big plus, Paula’s food is simply wonderful and I have fallen in love with Sicily.”
- Debbie, resident artist, Masterclass 2022 & 2023
“A truly memorable experience. I would love to thank the Sicily Photo Masterclass for their hospitality and kindness. You are welcomed on the beautiful hills of Sicily and are able to share an open environment with other photographers whilst acquiring words of wisdom and guidance from the amazing guest tutors. Long days in the sun and evening aperitifs by the pool with beautiful homemade food to follow, it doesn’t get any better”
- Harry, resident artist, Masterclass 2023
“The welcome, the food, the house, the organization in general, the rooms, your presence, everything has been for me beyond all imagination. We were welcomed like long time friends, with kindness, benevolence and sympathy. You have fed us every lunch or dinner with delicacies and there was enough for a regiment in alcohol and food. The chats, the laughter, the dives in the pool! I have the wonderful memory of having spent a whole week of good times.
This workshop gave me a lot of confidence in myself and my work. Showing my work to the group allowed me to take stock of my work and to have the opinions of other photographers and primordial to have an outside view.
The daily focus on the images taken during the photo outings helped me to structure the narrative and the aesthetic research, without forgetting the learning to go beyond my own limits.
The whole week has been incredible and by far exceeded all the expectations.”
